Independence Day

As I sit watching the Boston Pops fireworks show on the Esplanade in Boston, my mind fills with many thoughts:
of my family and friends who are no longer here to enjoy this celebration;
of my uncles who served in World War II who are no longer here to enjoy this celebration;
of my fellow soldiers whom I served with in Vietnam who are no longer here to enjoy this celebration and will be forever young.

I am extremely proud to be an American on this day and every day of the year.
