Illegal immigrants costing us all money
How I See It

It is very difficult to discuss any issue into which illegal aliens are not woven like a piece of fabric.

Do illegals commit crimes? You bet they do. Then, an attorney has to be appointed, we must house and feed them in jail, an interpeter has to be paid $80 an hour because they can't or won't speak English, court costs are involved and, in many cases, after they have served their time, they are let back on the streets of America to commit more crimes. Does this cost taxpayers money? You bet it does.

What about education? How many children of illegal aliens are we educating? How many ESL teachers have to be hired? How many books have to be printed in foreign languages? How many free lunches are given out? We will never know because we can't ask. Does this affect the learning ability of American children? Why do American kids have to provide a birth certificate and other documents? Does this cost money? Yes.

Look at social programs. How many illegals are receiving food stamps, county housing, WIC payments, in-state tuition, Pell Grants, Social Security checks? How easy is it to falsify documents to receive this assistance? What procedures do we have to verify who these people are?

How many illegals are receiving free health care because they won't or can't pay? Who do you think picks up the tab for this care? Hospitals are businesses. When more people are not paying than are paying, the hospital goes broke and everyone suffers. That's why thousands of hospitals have closed. We will never know the real impact because hospitals can't ask about immigration status.

How much money changes hands in our local underground economy? How much in tax revenues is lost in this process? Why have service and construction wages decreased in the past 10 years?

Why have Americans been let go so the employer could hire illegals cheaper and without any responsibility for their well being?

Pure and simple, it's called greed. Are some politicians receiving bribes and kickbacks in this process? You know they are.

How many illegals are driving without licenses or insurance?

How many Americans have been killed by drunk driving illegals?

Do you really think all of this comes without a cost?

Do illegal aliens leave thousands of tons of garbage just inside the U.S. border each year?

Do you really think that illegals have a stake in keeping trash out of their yards? Their grass edged and mowed? Cars parked in driveways instead of in the yards? Not really. After all, this is not their country, they are only here to take.

This is not about race, this is about illegals, it is about numbers, and more directly, it is about greed.

Keep in mind, these illegals have broken our laws. This nonsense has to stop.

This is not about having an ax to grind, it's about putting Americans first. After all, we the people - citizens and taxpayers - are the ones who are paying for this nonsense.

Ah yes I love these people, they know all the problems and none of the solutions.

Heres a challenge for you, sit down and think of a viable, cost effective, efficient and above all realistic solution to this problem.

Seriously how are you going to realistically (note the emphasis on this word) handle illegal immigrants in a way that does not use resources "better spent" elsewhere?.

Disclaimer: I am in no way saying that illegals should not be treated as criminals nor am I suggesting that things like amnesties are a good idea in fact I am against them but I do believe it is time the people pointing out all the problems actually started offering solutions.

We pay the same for our own criminals. If it's handled right at the local level then they are deported.

What about education? How many children of illegal aliens are we educating? How many ESL teachers have to be hired? How many books have to be printed in foreign languages? For the same reason I had to show documentation before this became a hot button. To verify idenity.

Look at social programs. How many illegals are receiving food stamps, county housing, WIC payments, in-state tuition, Pell Grants, Social Security checks? How easy is it to falsify documents to receive this assistance? What procedures do we have to verify who these people are?

Most of these have been closed or the regulations changed. And personally if it's WIC I don't care where the kid is from.

How many illegals are receiving free health care because they won't or can't pay? Who do you think picks up the tab for this care? Hospitals are businesses. When more people are not paying than are paying, the hospital goes broke and everyone suffers. That's why thousands of hospitals have closed. And US Citizens are just as guilty of this. Thats why ER's are packed. The answer is not to deny medical treatment.

in this process? Why have service and construction wages decreased in the past 10 years?

Why have Americans been let go so the employer could hire illegals cheaper and without any responsibility for their well being?

Who, what , when and where? Most employers in the services industries don't provide much in the form of bennies for any type employee.

Pure and simple, it's called greed. Are some politicians receiving bribes and kickbacks in this process? You know they are.

No I don't. But nice conspiracy theory lets call it border gate.

How many illegals are driving without licenses or insurance?

Alot. But then there are alot of US Citizens doing the same thing. Guess thats not an issue.

How many Americans have been killed by drunk driving illegals?

No hard numbers. But I'd venture a guess that it's below the number killed by US Citizen DWI's or manslaughters by DWI.

Do you really think all of this comes without a cost?

No.

Do illegal aliens leave thousands of tons of garbage just inside the U.S. border each year?

Yes and so do US citizens.

Do you really think that illegals have a stake in keeping trash out of their yards? Their grass edged and mowed? Cars parked in driveways instead of in the yards? Not really. After all, this is not their country, they are only here to take.

This one strikes me as funny. I see very little of this in Hispanic nieghborhoods. But in the redneck areas lord have mercy!!!!!!

This is not about race, this is about illegals, it is about numbers, and more directly, it is about greed.

Yes in manner of speaking it is about race. Currently your a wet until proven otherwise. And it's being sanctioned.

Keep in mind, these illegals have broken our laws. This nonsense has to stop.

Yes they have. Entry without Inspection. So whats your plan or ya jest here complain and thump yer chest.

This is not about having an ax to grind, it's about putting Americans first. After all, we the people - citizens and taxpayers - are the ones who are paying for this nonsense.
I'm with MontyB everyone wants to cry, but no one wants to offer a solution or a plan. Everyone wants to blame ICE and then not fund them properly. Everyone wants local law enforcement to "take a bigger role." on their own dime and their budget.
It's not going away. There is going to have to be a happy medium. But hot button journalism like this ain't helpin.

Because someone is in no position to do something about this crime themselves, should not be a reason why they can't complain about it or at least show their support for some other persons discontent.

It is all very well to say, "Well, do something about it at the ballot Box". But if none of those standing for election are going to do anything about it, it's not very sound advice.

I am a firm believer that there is some benefit from raising your voice, in that it sometimes gives other more timid persons the support they are waiting for to raise their voice also. In short, it helps bring forward those of the otherwise silent majority (if they are a majority) and something may be done about it, if they are not in the majority, no harm has been done. It's all part of a widely accepted principle called democracy.

I understand that latest reports establish that 700 invited, eligible and accepted Brits move to Australia every day.

This tells of us a British government which has failed its people and will not listen and is perceived as having now missed the boat through denial, and of an Australian government which has got things right. ( despite the fact that new mosques have sprung up in Queensland.)

Australia is caring for its people and its future.

I don't think we have any significant number of illegal Muslims in Australia, although we do have a problem with tourists overstaying their visas but they are largely Asians and South Sea Islanders.

As for 700 Brits per day, I feel that it is hugely overstated, as the 2006 yearbook states that we only received 18225 British immigrants for the year, which is almost exactly 50 per day. I don't have the latest yearbook, but i doubt that it has increased by anything vaguely like that amount.

In fact there has been a steady decline of British immigrants since the late 1950s. So I feel that Australia's policies have little influence on the departure of Brits from the UK

Well you may be right - the information I quoted was from a news bulletin I picked up yesterday on day-time television. I will wait for further confirmation or otherwise before responding.

Until then I am prepared to withdraw my premature applause for Australia, in order to avoid offending anyone.

However, it is most certainly true that their policies do affect the Brits exodus, as it is the big draw, perhaps the only large -scale draw, and they have the necessary skills and attitudes. It's a match.
700 a day would be an impressive figure, and it was being compared with the 50's demand. Perhaps the per day quote was incorrect or misunderstood.

I'm pretty sure that, as you say, you have very few illegal Muslims, because your government has not been prepared to entertain such a situation, and has been an example in that respect.

I'm sorry, building a 700 mile wall across a 2100 mile border is not going to stop very much.
