Politics is all around us. The Canadian People's hearts bleed for the future of these girls. "We can not allow these girls to lose their rights!" Yet these same people also cry out with indignity every time a bomb goes astray or a casket comes home. They claim the moral high ground when it comes to Womens Rights, but hamstring their own Armies ability to deliver on their promise.

Our war was with Al-Qaeda, not the Taliban. The Taliban was an Isolationist Society. Al-Qaeda was the group who wished to push their views beyond the borders. Al-Qaeda is gone, we have nothing to fear from the isolationists. If they want to go freeze in the dark than so be it. Who are we to impose our morals on their society. Isn't that why we were fighting Al-Qaeda to begin with?

If we want to truely help these people than we should encourage them to adopt more progressive views, impose restrictions if they violate international standards and accept that it is their will if they chose to live in the stone age. Installing a puppet government or hamstringing their efforts to acheive peace will only end in more coffins and international unrest. Let us show them the ulternatives and let them make their own choices. And if they chose poorly than let then freeze in the dark.

It is not our fault that the Taliban Government openly supported Terrorist activities. It is not our fault that the Extremist Islamic Views are oppresive. We have won our war, the plight of the Afghan People should be determined by the Afghan People. Who are we to impose our will any more than the Al-Qaeda were to impose theirs. And if the bleeding hearts want to push the issue let them go fill the body bags.
