Well when i was in charge i wanted to build unity and honor, but basically everyone said hell no.

i thought that we should all do our PT as one unit but NOOOOOOO, the fags didn't want it that way, because most of them were fat slobs, but now my unit is in the hands of a hippie who can't salute, he preaches brotherhood but he implicates me in a b******t assault case which i had nothing to do with.

If I was in charge of unit I would help some cadets out improve their drills individually...and put something healthy besides water in our squadron's snack break fridge. Before any of that I'd improve myself first to be a better cadet so I could set a good example.

Yeah, you've got the right idea cadetgirl. I hate it when ppl get control and TRY to start improving things, when they themselves still have so much to improve on. You can fix someone slese if you your self needs fixing.

As for me, I think in the new year, I will try to improve esprit de corps, and commradrie. As well as respect. I think Once again though I'll be working on getting our sqn numbers improved, and hopefully, get all of our new guys psyched for the programme and have them included. I want to have more survival exercises, and have the ones we do do more survival orientated. Wow, theres alot of work to be done. Oh well.

I don't plan on doing anything. I'm taking a long break before all hope of sanity is gone for me. That and I tick most of the staff off when I quote the regs, so I'm going to disappear for a little bit and come back later when the staff line-up changes.

Well...we will work towards "Squadron of Merit" and the "Unit Citation". Later we will win the "Illinois Wing Color Guard Competition", move on to the Regional (not sure if we will win) and later to National (yea, right). We plan to Recruit 50+ people in 2 recruiting drives. Go to as many Encampments, Airman, NCO, Officer Academies as possible. Work on one of the BIGGEST problems in CAP, which is COMMAND VOICE. That is about all of it, I think. Lots to do, and never enough time

We the got the Unit citiation 4 times. Squadron of Merit once or twice. We may work on our Drill Team and Color Guard to get them back to how they were.

Just a Question do you wear all 4 citations?

We wore the ribbon with three propellers. But, we dont wear them anymore. Something about they expired not to long ago.

What in the heck?!?!?! Propellers? They don't go on the ribbon! Bronze/Silver clasps, NOR do you wear citations that you were not in the unit for. This is a big issue....and it's a permanant ribbon.

Chapter 4 UNITED STATES UNIT AND ORGANIZATIONAL AWARDS
4.2. Individual Entitlement. All assigned or attached people who served with a unit during a period for which a unit award was awarded are authorized the appropriate ribbon if they directly contributed to the mission and accomplishments of the unit.

Paragraph 12. Award Elements:
a. At the time National Headquarters announces an award, it will forward the appropriate award elements to the proper region or wing commander for presentation to the individual concerned.
b. When region commanders announce an award, they will present the appropriate award elements, or forward them to the proper wing commander for presentation to the individual concerned.
c. Award elements consist of:
(1) The medal and/or ribbon of the decoration in question and the certificate that accompanies the decoration to individuals.
(2) Only one Unit Citation Award certificate and streamer will be presented to the unit receiving the award. For example, if an entire group (rather than just the group headquarters) receives the Unit Citation Award, the certificate and streamer will be displayed at group headquarters only; however, all members of the group headquarters and squadrons within that group are authorized to wear the Unit Citation Ribbon. The members of each unit which receive the Unit Citation Award are authorized to wear the Unit Citation Ribbon. This ribbon is not furnished by National Headquarters, but may be purchased from the CAP Bookstore or commercial sources. The Unit Citation Ribbon may be worn permanently by all individuals who were members of the unit during any portion of the period of time shown in the National Headquarters Personnel Action announcing the award. Unit commanders will post the members’ records to show their eligibility to wear the ribbon.

The question was,

I have a question about the award of unit citation ribbons, and whether there was such a thing as a "temporary" award. Basically, if a new cadet joins a squadron that has one unit citation award, a wing that has 4, and a region that has 2, does he have the right to wear the unit citation award with a silver and bronze clasp? Is he "temporarily" allowed to wear this award, while a member of the unit? Several members quoted several different sections of CAPR 39-3 for me, and I'm not sure how to interpret it.

Now, you better have been in the unit at the time of citation, or take them off. The distinction/merit units do not garner a ribbon.
