GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Al Horford, No. 5 Florida's leading scorer and rebounder, was cleared to play Saturday against No. 3 Ohio State after missing two games with a high ankle sprain.
Coach Billy Donovan had said Horford would not play for the defending national champions against the Buckeyes, but the 6-foot-10 junior center practiced Friday and made it through a shootaround Saturday morning without any setbacks.
Horford, averaging 13.2 points and 8.3 rebounds, sprained his left ankle Dec. 11 and spent a week in a protective boot. He started going through conditioning drills this week, but Donovan said Thursday "there's no chance of him playing right now."
That changed the following day when Horford was cleared to practice.
