Hi there

I'm 21 years old and in the german Army since 2004. I entered the air force with 17 years after i had finished my A-levels (?). then i went to the air force infantry division, now called the german air force ground combat supporting regiment and stayed there until i started officers training. Now i'm studying history in the Helmut Schmidt Univerity of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg and will become Lieutenant 2nd class on the first of octobre.

I acquired the status combat ready and was fully trained to go to Afghanistan (the officers training stopped that)
Alongside countless military exercises in Hammelburg (german infantry school) and other training areas i was part of the Force Protection and guarded Sembach and an Ammunition Depot(near Ramstein). I was promoted to Hauptgefreiter(Corporal) there on US-ground :)
I enjoyed it the time with the americans and i feel the depest respect for the Us- Troops everywhere, that is also because my godfather is a retired full Colonel (US- Army); my father, who also is full Colonel in the german Army :), met him in Brussels while they both worked for NATO.

I found this Forum looking for a basis on which i can discuss Military Topics also with other nations, because i already know enough germans and their opinions ;) and i really love to read what other nations think and do, alongside there opinion towards germany. So please don't hesitate to tell me what you think about me or my country ;)

Quite confusing presented with my bad english isnt it :(
I Hope you understood some words :)
And i do hope my english is sufficent for this Forum...

Welcome to the Forum.

Thank you for your potted biography in the German Armed Forces, it was very interesting reading, and your English is probably better than mine .

All the Very best with your career.

Spike.

A big welcome the forum. I hope you will find what you seek here, it's a good place to explore.:thumb:

Welcome. I spent a short time with NATO troops, including Germany, at White Sands Missile Range in 1964. We were qualifying on the Nike Hercules system. German troops were firing the Hawk so we spent some time at the EM club. A lot of beer was drank and pool and ping-pong was played until closing time. I found the German soldiers to be very competitive but fun.

I´m confused.
Did you, or did you not go to MeS?
If you did, did you ever visit CNL?

Herzlich willkommen im Forum!!!
Hi and welcome on board!!!
Sooo seams like you get rid of the fancy "Discolitze" in October and will no longer get called "Herr Hauptfeldwebel" from a recruit:lol:.

Joker

P.S. Hauptgefreiter is not a Corporal. A HG is something between PFC (Private First Class)and SPC (Specialist). A Corporal is similar to our Unteroffizier (Uffz), because a Corporal is a NCO rank (noncommissioned officer = Unteroffiziers Laufbahn).

Well Leo(online translation prog^^) said its corporal :)
Thanks for the correction.

*Mein Vater ist übrigens Fernmelder, wo ich grad das Barrettabzeichen sehe*
