Very impressive.
The Chinooks are a nice touch, though do they symbolize Sea Kings?
Ever thought of making combat aircraft with that program?

Well, I don't make combat aircrafts. That would be too much for a amateur. ;)

Give yourself a challenge ;)
The first 3d thing I ever made was a TIE Fighter. because that's piss easy. hahaha.
I don't have a 3D program anymore. That was back in my Mac days. I did have a brief stint with the AutoCad at school but I've left the engineering school.

Did you make the Chinook from scratch as well?
Nope, I borrowed these Ch-47s from another 3DS project to make the ship look better :D . To make models in 3DSMax, you need a line drawing, but a different modeling process though.

The only problem I see is that you have CH-47's flying around the ship, those are Army, the Navy uses CH-46's. How about putting a few V-22's around it, those will be taking the place of the CH-46.

Don't let the Army land on the ships, they will get them all muddy! You need an airwing on the carrier, with out an airwing it's just a floating target. :)

Lol I think I'll just buy a program under $100..Hope it can do the same wonders.

Did you make the aircraft carrier by yourself too?

Well, it has some detail, but the creating process is not as hard as you think, all you have to do is to use extrude and magnetic tools in Cinema4D. And the most important of all, that carrier looks like a real CVN 72, but not identical. Because in Cinema4D, things do not has to be precise, all its purpose is to create a good image. In contrast, AutoCAD is much more accurate and precise, but its rendering sucks. So if you are pursuing a 3D model that can be actually built and has a great looking, I recommend you to use a CAD type software to create your original project, and render it in whatever CG(computer graphic: 3dsmax, cinema4d, lighwave, maya, etc.) software you get. :D I hope you will success in your first project.

Can you get the wireframe from CAD and import it into the programs iwth good renderers then??
I didn't know that you could.
I worked with CAD before and... yeah it looks ugly.

Yep, so far as I know, Cinema4D can import almost any 3D formats (except max., and AutoCAD 2005 files), but it works fine for AutoCAD with lower versions.
Here is an example of original AutoCAD wireframe rendering and one after been modified by Cinema4D.

Turbocad is a great program. I can't remember the site exactly but I used to visit an RC model forum...they have some great stuff over there, most of the CAD programs are 2D but I think there are a couple free 3D versions that they recommend. They also have instructions to make your own CAD/CAM machines
