Hey. I'm new here. I'm pretty sure this is the right place...anyway...I was looking into the army ROTC advanced courses (I'm a junior in highschool btw) and I was wondering if the 8 years of service included the 4 years of college or if it was another 8 years on top of that. thanks to anyone who can help.

The ROTC program is separate from the enlistment contract. You will "owe" (want of a better word) the Army 8 years AFTER you complete ROTC. Everyone who signs up, officer or enlisted, signs for 8. For officers, this is typically contracted as 6 + 2 - that is, 6 years active duty and 2 years Reserves. Enlisted generally serve 4 years active duty, 2 years Reserve, and 2 years of Inactive Ready Reserve (out of the Army but subject to recall).

Regardless, the 8 years is served after your ROTC obligation (unless you find a recruiter that will build it in).
