I think all friends here helped you find a way and my point here might be unnecessary.

But let your mom know that this is your responsiblity and you are up for it and you are ready for any consequences of joining the Corps.

Don't try to convince her, try to bring her to your world and let her understand the world you live in. That way, you will get to your goal.
