I discovered the forum today, while searching for information on the M1 Garand. In the last week, I purchased two:

• Springfield - Produced December 1943, converted to 7.62mm NATO 1966
• Springfield - Produced July 1943

Although qualifying twice with M1's (.30-06 and 7.62mm NATO), I never had a hot desire to own one. I realize how much fun I've been missing, and decided to buy one, just to have fun shooting them.

I served in the U.S. Navy Reserve, active duty in the Seabees.

I worked for a large manufacturing company for over 38 years, retiring just over three years ago. My areas of specialty included finance/accounting, and information technologies. It's time to have fun, and take up some things I hadn't taken the time to do.

I've had a lifelong interest in military and political history, and the relationship with finance and economics.
