What was your exact MOS? What units were you in?
Didn't have a MOS I had an NEC. it was for O level and I level helicopter engine and rotor dynamic repair. I was permanently attached to NAS Norfolk, but sent on dets with Navy and Marine combat units to repair their aircraft and small engines since I was a "mechanic" There was about 15 of us that rotated in and out with whatever or whoever needed us at the time. I do;t know what its called now days, but in my day it was simply called Sea Opdet, which meant you went where they sent you land or sea, combat area or the French Rivera.
I had 6043, 6122, 6132, and 1342 (opened my big fat mouth and got that one as a result) The 6132 is the one that got me sent wherever they wanted to send me, Helicopter Dynamic Component Mechanic means you can fix each and every piece of mechanical parts. I also did AMCM, which is Aviation Mine Counter Measures, and I've worked on UH-1, and H-53's, RH, CH, and MH models, configured for cargo troop of gunship. I wish I could sit here and say I've worked on H-60's but all I did on those was a tail rotor blade that was shipped from El Salvador to me.
Only problem I've ever had is with one of my bosses here in the City that used to think that since I was Navy I never left a ship or a land base
