Despite what the caption says, it's not an F-14. Appears to be a RCAF BAe Hawk flown by the advanced students at 2 CFFTS (Canadian Forces Flying Training School) out of 15 Wing, CFB Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada.

News report here.

Ouch! As someone else I know put it, "fast-moving bogey at 12 o'clock!"

Some fool on another forum said the pilot should of saved it and landed back at base.

Then went on to say his brothers a trainee airline pilot and managed to land a cessna when the engine failed coming into land :D

Oh boy did we flame him, he couldnt quite grasp the concept that when a jet fighter loses its engine(s) it doesnt turn into a glider like your average light aircraft.

I think the instructor did a superb job, he went through all the correct drills of trying to restart before ejecting, and also pointed it away from a built up area in the distance. I think its the student pilot who is breathing pretty damn heavy though.
