gettin me an Ak-47

Hey, don't sharpen that bayonet for nothing or you could start taking chips off it if you accidentally bang it against something. You should keep bayonets blunt when not in a situation where you would need it for two reasons:
1) Safety.
2) Preserves the bayonet.
Needlessly sharpening bayonets is the sign of an amateur ;)

Unless of course there is something to poke with the pig sticker.:p

They don't really need to be sharpened. I have seen the results of an as issued bayonet that did a considerable amount of damage without a lot of force being applied at all during drill. It penetrated 4" of flesh in the upper chest coming to a stop under the man's collar bone. He pulled it out immediately and fainted falling on his face which resulted in more blood from his nose than the wound. We were the next class for rifle drill and when we arrived they were just sweeping sand over the bloodstains on the asphalt.

This occurred just after the RAN was issued with SLRs after having had the SMLE No1 MkIII* which was too tall to catch in your shoulder during drill. There were many torn shirts and lesser nicks and scratches until people became aware of the problem of a considerably shorter rifle and bayonet.

For comparison, my SKS bayonet came pretty dull, even the point looked dull, but using a minimal amount of force I got it through a 2" block of wood, so it's no joke! That thing doesn't even need sharpening, really, it's more of a spearhead than a knife.

This bayonet is kinda short. I will probably use it as a knife as well. I will look into a 75 rd drum magazine as well. that would be alot of fun!

Since you know have a modern rifle.... STOCK UP ON MAGAZINES, PARTS, AND AMMUNITION!

With the way he 2008 Congressional and Presidential looks like they're headed. New Anti 2nd Amendment laws will be passed. Restrictions on magazines capacity, stock design, and ammunition will be passed. Trust me, it happened during the age of Clinton Socialism, and sinc the witch is running it will happen again.

well guys, its been a long time coming. I finally was able to get home and find the camera. Here are some pictures... Sorry about the kinda poor quality. i just have a really crappy camera. the last picture also has my .22 rifle from the '50s and my shotgun from the '30s. the .22 was my dads as a kid, and the shotgun (16 gauge) was my grandfathers.

What's that contraption on top of the rifle in the first photo? Is that a red dot/holo sight of some sort?

Well, congrats on only a EBR (Evil Black Rifle). Now upgrade and get a AR-15.... just yanking your leg. Congrats and may you have a long and happy period of ownership. Now go and get an AR-15... it's designed by an American, for Americans, and built by Americans in America.

By the way... the price of ammo is rising and also a new gun ban is coming... '08 doesn't look good for gun owners. The democrats are getting ansy.

no, nothing like that. It is just the sheath for my bayonet. I only have the iron sights on there right now, but I was shooting really well with them at 100 yards today.

I would like to have a good AR-15 (though I do prefer a larger round than .223), but I just dont have the cash right now. I will have to wait and see after the democrats are out of power.

yeah, well, somehow I wouldn't be surprised if they outlawed spitballs. Kids using them in class and what not. The teachers union would just them outlawed. I'm sure that Hitlery Rodram Clinton would gladly oblige.

Congratulations on your AK what make and model did you get I disagree with the person that said EOTech there are a great number of easternblock optics that work great on the AK I like the PK-01 it has an automatic brightness control.

I have a C-More railway 2moa dot on my AK right now it is mounted on a Ultimak rail.

Never underestimate the EOTech. My neighbor put one on his $220 SKS. It's not like it's permanently stuck on there - once you get another gun you can just mount it on that.

Why? the Eotech costs more then the gun.

I have a C-More ARW but it's not soldier proof as a Eotech is. Eotechs are just battle tough. I carried one in the A-Stan. It's been dropped on just about everything and banged into anything. Rocks, Concrete, Mountain Sides, etc...

My C-More is mounted on a Ruger .22 Pistol. They're quality optics and can take a pounding but the Eotech is just tougher. It's like comparing a pickup truck to a tank. Both are strong but one is stronger. As for price you're right about that. $250-$300 for a C-More. $450-$650 for a Eotech.

5.56 nothing wrong with an eotech

Your not going to break this one, although the controls are a bit wierd the really cool thing about this one is that the dot gets brighter as you go in to a brighter area.

I bought one for boardings, often times when your doing a boarding on a ship, BTM will move from compartment to compartment and the lighting is different in each one. So with an automatic dot adjusting system you simply turn it on and don't worry about it the dot will never be washed out or too bright.

A quick story I had my PK-01 on my bulls eye pistol we were shooting outside on an overcast day, the string of fire started and the sun came out all the other competitors using dots lost it, I did not even notice the change in sun light my dot was there and I cleaned up on that string.

The scope is cheap and military quality althoug it is a bit old school, and a bit long but what the heck it works for what I want it to do. Right now it's on my CX4 Storm Home Defense carbine.
