This is a disturbing sign. For a new democratic, tolerant Libya, intolerance like has no place.

Is this a statement to the entire exiled Libyan community?

By who's expectations is the new govt going to be religiously tolerant? Secular Socialist govt are being swept away, most likely to be replaced by the Moslem Brotherhood or other extreme groups. Like what happened in Iran, revolution started by youths & captured from within.

I have to agree with George on this one. Just the fact that the Lybians ousted Ghadaffi is by no means a sign that they will be tolerant in any way. Somehow it seems that it is easy to mobilize a large group of young moslims, who are willing to undertake action.
I had a conversation once with a teacher in Morroco who told me that the fundamentalists are the only group who are willing to change old patterns in society. He had severe problems with the king's power but no-one would address that... except the fundamentalist. He preferred what he would get in return more than this old system. I didn't know what to say to that and still don't.
