First two Iraqi policewomen killed in Baghdad
BAGHDAD, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Two Iraqi policewomen were shot dead by insurgents in southern Baghdad on Tuesday, police said.
"Gunmen ambushed a taxi in Dora district, Baghdad, and shot dead two women aboard and wounded the driver," Captain Ahmed Abdullah from Baghdad police told Xinhua.
Police arrived at the scene and identified the two victims as policewomen, Abdullah said.
It was Iraq's first announced killing of policewomen in the conflict between insurgents and the Shiite-and-Kurdish-dominated government in the war-torn country.
