Douglas Bader who was a seriously stubborn person also wrote some books:
Bader, Douglas. Fight for the Sky: The Story of the Spitfire and Hurricane. Ipswich, Suffolk, UK: W.S. Cowell Ltd., 2004. ISBN 0-304-35674-3.
Brickhill, Paul. Reach for the Sky: The Story of Douglas Bader DSO, DFC. London: Odhams Press Ltd., 1954. ISBN 1-55750-222-6.
Brookes, Andrew. Crash! Military Aircraft Disasters, Accidents and Incidents. London: Ian Allen Ltd., 1991. ISBN 0-7110-1965-7.

One may also notice that Roald Dahl, the guy who wrote "Charlie and the chokolate factory" first published his story "Shot down over Libya" during the war.

I take it you have enough reading for a few months there. :-D

Roald Dahl has a book called - "Going Solo" That is his story as a World War II pilot. That might be the proper English title. It is the sequel to his autobiography of his youth called "Boy." I think that's what it was called.

The French Love Comic Books or bande-Dessinee (BD) as they are known. There are several on Fighter Pilots.

Buck Danny (French) -Story involves a US Navy Carrier Pilot. This comic is actually quite old, it was written originally Just after WWII and has continued to the Post-Modern Era. Because of the age of the series it has gone through many different authors and artists.

Les Tigres Volant (French) -about the American AVG (Flying Tigers) in China.

Dan Cooper (French) -About a Canadian test Pilot.

Biggles (British-French) Like Buck Danny this book was originally written in the 1930s by a British Author WE Watts. Its about a British RFC pilot in WWI and WWII. This series was discoutinued after Watts death, however the French restarted the series during the 1990s. With new writers and artists.

Many of the French Books have been translated into other languages I have seen Buck Danny in the UK in English for example.
