Custard is a range of preparations based on milk and eggs. Most commonly, custard refers to a dessert or dessert sauce, but custard bases are also used for quiches and other savoury foods. As a dessert, it is made from a combination of milk or cream, egg yolks, sugar, and vanilla. Sometimes flour, corn starch, or gelatin are also added.
Custard is usually cooked in a microwave, double boiler (bain-marie) or heated very gently in a saucepan on a stove, though custard can also be steamed, baked in the oven with or without a hot water bath, or even cooked in a pressure cooker. Cooking until it is set without cooking it so much that it curdles is a delicate operation, because only 3-5°C (5-10°F) separate the two. A water bath slows heat transfer and makes it easier to remove the custard from the oven before it curdles.
Depending on how much egg or thickener is used, custard may vary in consistency from a thin pouring sauce (crème anglaise), to a thick blancmange like that used for vanilla slice or the pastry cream used to fill éclairs.
Custard is an important part of dessert recipes from many countries.

Your not that far from Dover, jump on the Euro Star and sample apple pie and custard. lol you never know, you might like it lol

well in august i'm probably going to Britain for a few days with a ferry. i'll have to remeber trying it

I would suggest that you take a tour in the "White Cliffs" and Dover Castle. Well worth the visit.

the ferry from my home town go to Ramsgate, any interesting stuff to see there? or schould alter my plans and take the eurostar

Ramsgate is a bit naff (crappy) personally I'd take the eurostar or the ferry from Zeebrugge or Ostend.
Dover has a lot of history going for it, there is also the Battle of Britain Memorial.
My dad was stationed at Dover Castle for a while during WW2, he reckoned it was haunted lol.
But to get back on track regarding desserts, there were a few little cafe's in and around Dover that sold quite nice desserts including apple pie and custard as well as strawberry scones. My mouth is watering lol

well Ostend is my hometown, and the ferries dont go to dover anymore, just to ramsgate , it sucks. but i guess i could take the one from Zeebrugge. so Dover it is
