Favorite American President and why.

I think my favorite president is Abe Lincoln because he supported the deaf people like me, I am deaf. But FDR was the best ones. He has been in office for 12 years.

Harry Truman, a straight shooter who inherited the job and did just fine.
"The Buck stops here"

:bravo:

The best lover of them all!

John Fitzgerald Kennedy was the greatest president who ever lived.
==================================================
Fooled ya didn't I - you thought I'd say Clinton! lol
==================================================
JFK cause he shot for the moon - remember the women who he chose:

First Lady Jackie Kennedy (Onassis) (one of the best looking and classiest first ladies ever).

Sex symbol Marilyn Monroe (one of the most gorgeous women to ever appear in a bathing suit).

==================================================
Leaving the humor out of the equation, JFK stood resolute when the Missiles of October (Cuba/Russia) crisis was about to cause WWIII. His character, coolness under fire, religion without being flashy about it, and his character place him at the top of the list of presidents that history has judged kindly.

Can't really pick one, but I can narrow it down.

George Washington, Abe Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt, and Ronald Reagan.

Washington because he was the first President and set a precedent for all those who followed. Abraham Lincoln because he had the courage to do what needed to be done in holding together the Union and freeing the slaves on top of that. Teddy Roosevelt because he turned the US into a player on the world stage. FDR because he led the US through two of the three most dangerous times in our nation's history. Finally, Reagan because he, and the Pope, were the two people who did most to bring down that "Evil Empire" and defeat the greatest threat the world has ever known and they did so without firing a shot.

Let's not forget, Reagan was recently chosen as "The Greatest American" by a nation wide poll last summer, beating out such notables as Tom Cruise and wtf? TOM CRUISE!? Well, in all honesty, that was pre-mid life crisis/scientologist Tom.

Teddy Roosevelt. No b.s., just took care of the country. It was his way or the highway. We need another leader like that.

Don't you think that kind of attitude might be a little.... dangerous in a world where several countries have nukes and it would take only minutes for the world as we know it to be destroyed? Teddy also had the advantage of that nice buffer called the Atlantic, it's no so big as it used to be.

I'm a big fan of Reagan, and I support Truman, though before the U.S.'s entrance into WWII I found that he buckled to the public somewhat easily.

On a sociopolitical note, Clinton's numbers were pretty good. However, his conduct of the military was somewhat less than we coulda hoped for.

What would you expect from someone who fled to Canada to dodge the draft?
For some reason I don't think the military would be the biggest concern for a person like that. They would probably put more emphasis on on domestic affairs.

Best: Ronald Reagan. He brought down the evil social;ist empire.

worst: Lyndon Johnson. He tried to make the USA an evil socialist empire.

Bill Clinton... It's hard for me to say why, maybe it's me who lacks in american history when it comes to presidents? But as far as I know, he took care of US and it's citizens.

Except it's because of his cutbacks that the military today is in the situation it is in today. Reagan and Bush Sr. built of the US military to it's highest point to date, Clinton slashed the budget and let the armed forces languish, Bush Jr. tried to make use of the military but found out the hard way how much of an effect Clinton had on the military.

That is a misconception. As per the United States Constitution, in Article I, Section 8 the US Congress is charged with raising and maintaining the Land and Sea Forces in the United States of America, not the President.
I'll also point out that the Republicans held the United States Congress for most of the time Clinton was in the White House.

When George Bush Jr. took over the US Military was in pretty good shape, and did a good job in the Afghan Op.
After taking over, Bush's Secretary of Defense pushed for a smaller Force, lighter, more specialized, in my opinion more of a need for Civilian Contractors.

Did Clinton push for what he termed a "Peace Dividend"? Yes he did, seeing how the Cold War was over, it was the right call to make in my opinion.

Did Clinton do things the right way? In my opinion no, but they never do.
The best thing to do is push for a total reorganization, bumping up the size of the Reserves, and the National Guard.
That way the U.S. Military can be cut back when there is little need for such a large standing force, and if there is trouble the Reserves and National Guard can pick up the slack until there are more boots in the Regular Force, sort of the way things are supposed to work.

Now, you take Iraq, there are some 100,000 Civilian Contractors in Iraq, sucking up all the Tax Dollars, along with all the Contracting Companies, eating up billions. If the Active Force is short, then Base Pay Active Duty Privates $50,000.00 a year and work up from that starting point progressively, according to rank for Troops in Theater, so Staff Sergeants can make $75,000.00+ in Base Pay, and so on, and so forth.
Then there would be less of a need to go out and beat the bushes for more Troops on the ground in the Combat Zone, but I believe if there were a law that no Civilian Contractors were used in a Combat Zone that we would not be in Iraq right now.
