Even though the liberals try to associate it with conservatives, Fascism is in fact a left wing ideology. As seen in the word Nazi. Which is an acronym for "National SOCIALIST Party"
So by that definition, a French Fry is actually French? Or a Danish (the pastery) actually comes from Denmark. Who knew?
Once again on this board someone is confusing economic and political theories. Socialism is economic, its antithesis is Capitalism. Nazism is political its antithesis is Democracy.
Fascism is NOT a left wing Ideology, it is right wing. The reason some liberals refer to conservatism as nazis is because they share some common believes, although that is not say that Nazism and conservatism are one in the same.
Some similarities...
1. Restrictions on personal freedoms, conservatives believe in comformity and destain individual liberty. They dont like black sheep. Liberals are just the opposite.
2. A large, strong, Central Government usually within a executive with vast powers a dislike of checks and balences.
3. Destain of the Free Press
4. A high emphisis on militarism.
5. Very nationalistic even ultra-nationalists sentiments.
6. INTOLERENCE (Racism/anti semtism/anti-immigration/homophobic). Now before all you conservatives get all uptight, I am not accusing you personally of being racist. but most Racist Movements such the KKK, White Supremists, etc are all right wing in origin. One only needs to look at the groups trying to ban homosexuality. Liberals (in theory, not always in practice) believe in tolerance.
On the Other hand Nazism and Conservativism differ
1. Economics- 5.56 is fairly accurate. Nazis dont like lassiez faire business. Conservatives believe in a hands off approach. +
2. Foreign Policy- Conservatives tend to wish to stay isolationist (except for neocons), nazis are expasionistic...
3. Religon- Conservatives are very religous, religon is poison to Nazis.
4. Firearms- Nazis banned them, Conservatives don't.
