OPSEC
Definition:
(DOD) A process of identifying critical information and subsequently analyzing friendly actions attendant to military operations and other activities to: a. identify those actions that can be observed by adversary intelligence systems; b. determine indicators that adversary intelligence systems might obtain that could be interpreted or pieced together to derive critical information in time to be useful to adversaries; and c. select and execute measures that eliminate or reduce to an acceptable level the vulnerabilities of friendly actions to adversary exploitation.
(NATO AAP 6) “The process which gives a military operation or exercise appropriate security, using passive or active means, to deny the enemy knowledge of the dispositions, capabilities and intentions of friendly forces."

Do not provide any information or images/media containing material
that has not officially been released from your government,

or is in any way classified/protected by your government or any of your allies.
Inlcuding, but not limited to:
- The identity of units planned for deployments, unless an official announcement of the deployment has been made.
- Specific geographic location of deployed units
- Details of participation in Military operations
- Information that is “For Official Use Only” (FOUO)
- Analysis and recommendations concerning lessons learned which reveal sensitive Military operations, procedures,, exercises or vulnerabilities
- Reference to unclassified information that would reveal sensitive movements of Military assets or the location of units, installations or personnel where uncertainty regarding location is an element of Military plan or program
- Detailed technical information that can be used or be adapted for use to design, engineer, produce, manufacture, operate, repair, overhaul, or reproduce any Military or space equipment or technology concerning such equipment

PERSEC
- You are not allowed to reveal full names, locations and specific identifying information regarding Military personnel, employees and/or their family members.
- Personal information including collections of names of personnel assigned to overseas, sensitive, or routinely deployable units
- Do not post names, phone numbers, addresses, pictures, etc., of others without their permission.
- Do not use full names or last names if you are talking about others than yourself, unless they are official/public personell or they have agreed themselves!

Images/Media
Do also read the OPSEC/PERSEC rules listed further below here regarding the use of images and media in the forums and the gallery.

If you encounter anything that you think may violate OPSEC/PERSEC then
report it to the forum staff immediately by using the "report post" button or send us a PM

Small pieces of information that may not be that important alone may be collected from several different sources online,
and pieced together they may pose a threat to OPSEC/PERSEC.

If you are in doubt about some information then contact the forum staff first before posting anything.

Severe OPSEC/PERSEC violations will lead to an immediate ban, and notification of the proper authorities!


General Forum Rules
General forum rules
1. Be polite and respect the other members. We have members from many countries and different cultures here so please be aware of this as well when posting!
2. English is the only allowed language in here.
If you have to use another language then an English translation must be posted as well.
3. The following are not accepted in posts, but not limited to; Flaming, Baiting, Name Calling, Country Bashing, Spamming, Hate or Racism
4. Watch your language in the open forums since all age groups have access there.
5. Do not question moderators openly in the forums! Use PMs or post in the «Private messages to staff» forum if you have any questions or complaints about moderation or moderators!
6. Please use the "report post" button, or PM one of the forum staff instead if you think that some of the posts should be removed or edited. Don't reply to spammers, clear rules violations etc.
7. Please do not double post (reply directly after one of your own posts) unless there isn't enough space in one post for text or images! Use the edit button if you need to add something more. Bumping up own posts are allowed after 24hours.
8. Do NOT write with the CAPS LOCK ON, please...
9. Advertising for commercial sites or sites/forums similar to this one is not allowed.
Contact one of the forum staff first if you are in doubt about your site/forum or if you're interested in advertising here.
Linking to sites you run/own is allowed in your signature, but affiliate links are not!
10. No country vs. country threads are allowed (would X beat Y, my country is better than yours etc..) Almost all of these kind of threads have turned real nasty in the past! Historical country vs. country threads are still allowed.
11. Creating "fake" signatures directly in posts are not allowed! You'll have to have at least 10 posts in order to display your real signature.

You are not allowed to post, upload, email/PM, or in any other way transmit

(i) any Content that you do not have the lawful right to copy, transmit and display
(including any Content that would violate any confidentiality or fiduciary obligations that you might have with respect to the content)
(ii) any Content that infringes the intellectual property rights or violates the privacy rights of any third party
(including without limitation copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, or other intellectual property right, or moral right or right of publicity);


Edits, Infractions and Bans
If you break any of the forum rules you posts may be edited or deleted.
A warning/infraction will in most cases be sent by one of the forum staff, and/or a "Mod/Admin edit" can be added to your post(s).
"Minor" offenses will in most cases give you a 2-3 days temporary ban.
Three warnings/infractions without any improvement will lead to a temp. ban,
and three temporary bans without any improvement will get you permanently banned!
Major offenses will give you an immediate ban, and your internet provider (and other proper authorities) will be notified if we consider the offense(s) severe enough.
Banned (or abandoned) accounts will not be deleted, but the posts will stay in the forum as a warning/reminder to other members/visitors.

Please use the "Report Post" button report
We (the staff) have no chance to read through all new posts/threads in here so if you find any posts you believe violates any of the forum rules then use the "report post" button report and we'll deal with it as soon as we're online (if we believe it violates any rules).
If you choose not to use that button then you can't blame us for not dealing with offensive etc. posts/threads since it's a good chance that we don't know about it at all.
Threads/posts that are not reported rarely gets any attention from us since we assume that no members finds it/them offensive.
The only exceptions here are posts we clearly see that violates the forum rules.

Usernames:
Military ranks/titles etc. in usernames are not allowed unless they have been earned in real life!
If you are not a current or former member of the military, or in any other way related to the names,
please do not use SF, Ranger, SEAL, UDT, PJ, CCT, Force Recon, Operator, Marine, Sailor, Soldier, etc in your username.
If you choose to use names like this, or if you claim to be (or has been) a part of a military force,
please fill out as much as possible of the profile information to make it clear what you are.
Do NOT try to pretend that you are something/one you are not.
You will eventually be revealed, and this will result in banning, and the notification of the proper authorities.

Do not provide any information or images/media
containing material that has not officially been released from your government,
or is in any way classified/protected by your government or any of your allies.
Do not use full names if you are talking about others than yourself!

Pictures of still serving military personell can not contain:
(unless these are official photos and/or the person(s) have agreed to publish the image)
1. Clearly visible faces (possible to easily identify the person(s))
2. Readable name tags, unit tags etc.
3. Other items that can help to identify the person(s) on the picture

You'll have to manually remove ("censor") images that do not follow
those rules if you wish to display them in the forum and/or gallery

Pictures from official (military) sites are ok for now, since we have to asume that
they have been cleared for public use.


You are not allowed to post, upload, email/PM, or in any other way transmit

(v) Do not add pictures in your posts that are not located on your server(s) or servers you are allowed to use.
Images from official sources are ok (www.mil.something etc.), as long as you add a link/source to that site.
If you want to use images from other sources then please link to them only, bandwidth theft is not a nice thing!

If you are in doubt about the image/movie, PM one of the forum staff first.
The above also applies to links to illegal downloads/warez sites or similar sites.

Watermarking
Image uploaded in the gallery will be watermarked with "Military-Quotes.com" in the bottom right corner.
This is done to discourage illegal downloads and track possible abuse of your images from the gallery.


Privacy Policy

None of your personal info will be used any other places than in the forum.
We will never sell/rent (etc.) any of your personal information to any third parties.
Your e-mail address will only be used for sending out administrative info mails (no spam!).
You can also choose to hide it from the public, to prevent abuse.
Your profile information is only visible to logged in/registered members.
