F-22A Raptors for sale.

The problem with the Raptor is that it arrivied too late. It was designed to do deep penetrations of Soviet airspace and be invisable to the most sophisticated of Air Defence Systems. Only problem, there isnt a Soviet Union anymore and all the countries we risk possible engagmentment with have antiquated Soviet Systems. Thus the "stealthiness" of the F-22 is no longer a crucial asset, espically when you consider the cost per aircraft. Furthermore its limited payload is a problem for any 'strike' missions. The F-35 can do both the AA and AG roles well and losts much less. Its also suited (with modifications) to carriers and SVOTL roles. The F-22 cannot do either. In short, as cool as it is we just don't need it anymore.

I do think the superior AA qualities of the F-22 might make it useful for any nation needing a pure defensive weapon. Japan and Taiwan for example...

Well, there isn't a Union of Soviet Socialist Republics anymore. But there still is a People's Republic of China. And they are going through military spending like tomorrow is the last day on Earth.

Do European have China drearm?

This news might be warning to such Europeans.

Yes they will probably sell it eventually to the most trusted allies, Britan, Israel, japan, Canada, etc. of course these will be modified to conform to the buyers special needs.
P.S. the RAF is getting the F/A 32, they have been in from the design stage.

With the US now in its 4th (or is it 5th) generation of stealth technology with the F-22. With other countries not even having produced a successful 1st generation product, the only way anyone can catch up is if they can pirate the technology.. developing it on their own would take too long and be too costly. Selling the raptor is not worth the risk of compromising its secrets and losing one's strategic advantage.

Please give us examples of planes from the first 3 or 4 generation of stealth planes.

I thought the Raptor is a 5th generation jet fighter, rather than 5th generation stealth plane.

The F-35 won the Joint Strike Fighter competion, and the RAF will be getting F-35's

Cool. I never knew the Blackbird was stealth!
It wasnt by todays defenition stealthy but it had several radar reducing properties.

The dam thing was A IR magnet anyway.

Rabs - What is it about the Raptor and JSF stealth that makes it more advanced than the B-2?

The specific answers to your question are surely classified. The general answer is that building stealth planes is a learning process where lessons learned from previous projects are incorporated into the new product.

I dont know WD i was just trying to figure out 4 generations of stealth planes :)

But a case could be made for the avionics, ability to go supersonic, supercruise, a2a abilities.

I mean, I don't know, maybe there's something new about the stealth, it just looks a lot like the B2 stuff.

Those other things plus the stealth are why it's a 5th generation fighter. :)

Just because the trigger didn't work didn't mean the heat seeker was bad. It did it's part but I think they fixed that little "gotcha" by putting a proximity and contact detonator on them. Back then, in fact, in the `60s when I worked on them, The detector was made by Honeywell and they cooled it with liquid Nitrogen which made it extremely sensitive, so to keep from the missile from turning on it's own aircraft, there were caging relays that were timed to release after the missile left the aircraft. All the pilot got was a low lock-on tone, about 6 kilohertz, in his headset to tell him he was aligned and locked on the target.

I understood like half of what you wrote there, but damn does it sound cool. I have the utmost respect and admiration of those who would work on and preserve the intelligent designs of American technology from those who would steal and pirate it. :tank:

Not a good idea. The F-22 is far superior to any other fighter.
And if Japan is worried about North Korea attacking- Japanese F-15Js are more that enough to shoot down those old North Korean MiGs.

NK has 40 MIG-29.
MIG-29 is not threat, because luck of fuel.
I think, the most threat of NK is AN-2.
AWACS may regard them as Car,because of low speed.
and NK troops can invade SK easily.
