This is just insane(ly cool)...

Here's a couple of other great youtube clips of wingsuit proximity flying from the Norwegian mountains
The wingsuit normally has a glide ratio of 2.5:1, so they "fall down" at aprox 100km/h but have 250km/t of horizontal speed so there's really no margin for errors there....

Be sure to run these in 720p and fullscreen if you have the bandwidth for it! :D

And that's just what we do before breakfast here in Norway....

Wow! Think of the military potential those flightsuits could have....

Wingsuits doesn't have the best military potential since the flight distance will be limited to maximum 2x of the jump altitude and you can't carry any extra gear.
But there has been experiments with wingpacks with a glide ratio of up to 6:1 with extra load of up to 50 to 100 Kg.

One example is the Gryphon here:

Looks pretty cool. :smil:

Although I'm afraid of heights....This is something I would love to do.
Couldn't imagine how it must feel. "freeing" Nothing like it. Hope to do this someday. (someone may have to push) but it would be well worth it.

OMG...this is insane...but like to do it in Himalayas...never done before....don't know how it feels....

The Himalayas isn't the best place to use wingsuits since the air pressure at that altitude isn't enough to keep you flying so you would fall faster then you would be flying forward. :smil:

Okay....but i think that some places in upper himalayas are windiest in the world like drass sector...

Try the Grand Canyon.

This guy is hoping to do that soon using a jetpowered wingpack.. :smil:

A former Swiss fighter pilot has taken to the skies - without a plane - becoming the first person to complete two aerial loops using only a custom-made jet-propelled wing suit.

In his latest daredevil act, the adventurer Yves Rossy launched himself from a hot-air balloon at an altitude of 2,400 metres near Lake Geneva on Friday.

Rossy said he is still hoping to fly through the Grand Canyon in the US state of Arizona, but is waiting for permission from US authorities.

Was browsing through some youtube clips and remembered this thread, and as you can see here Wingsuits or basejumping in the Himalayas is generally a bad idea.. :p
The air is so thin so you don't have any control at all, so it's just luck that these jumps went well.
