The only good thing coming out of this is indeed the intent to cut American dominance which has, pardon my expression gotten in your heads just a little bit.
Once they cool off the EU and USA will be best friends again. Try to think of this as a disciplinatory action from your mom who sends you to your room the first time you try to prove to her that your old enough to not listen to her. *any similarities are coincidental and unintentional* Though I find it hard to believe that Leo II will be suddenly for sale to the Chinese, as some of them anticipate (?). |

Actually the Chinese are not interesting in purchasing the Leopard II,. They already have the Type-98 and ZTZ-99G underway. Hence, they're more interested in licensing and purchasing onboard IT systems that can substantially boost the capabilities of their tanks.
However, I do not think the Chinese are interested in European Tank Technology. It seems to me that they're more interested in upgrading their Naval and Aircraft technology. And as a result, many of China's new DDGs will be equipped with very advanced hardware. Second, China has the J-10 in full production. Currently the J-10 is equipped with second-rate Chinese chipboards. If China is to purchase or to license advanced European components to replace those existing ones, surely the J-10 can rival the F-15, thus they have the potential to dominate the Asian skies if they are built in large numbers. While relating to the Taiwan Straight Crisis, Taiwan surely is in deep trouble. They don't have a possible chance to intercept the J-10 air to air, even though the J-10 is already more advanced to the Taiwanese Exported/modified F-16s. If conflict erupts between the two, the world is going to expect a battle never seen before since the Normandy Invasion. |

Foreign observers often comment that the Chinese Military will have a difficult time purchasing European Weapons platforms directily, unlike the Russians who sell weapons platforms directly to the PLA. Instead they will focus on purchasing the components from Europe that can be rigged onto their own indeniously/Russian made vehicles.
