This text was rejected by the French by a referendum held yesterday. France is the first country to oppose the text (after 9 countries who said "yes") with 55%. What do you think about (especially european people here) ?
Do you know what the text contains ?

this treaty is dead, if a very pro european nation like france rejects it there`s no way nations who are sceptical of the EU will ever vote for it.

I read on the news wires that the Dutch are starting to resist the EU Constitution aswell. Anybody from Europe want to give us a view about all this?

Yes this is interesting, I would like to hear more European views on this either pro or con. C'mon you Europeans lets hear what you have to say.

I do not agree with turkish entrance in UE, we do not have anything in common with them, and with this Constituion it will be very easy to happen. That`s why I say NO.

I think a union with Turkey is maybe possible, but not in the next decades. Turkey has not even reached a point that allowes to think about such a membership. There must be some major changes in turkish economy, politics and society to make that possible.

By the way, the major parts of Turkey aren't part of geographical europe, so why should they be part of the european union

Canada isn't in Eurpe yet there part of the ESA. Who knows what the higher ups in the EU are thinking.

I haven't read it, but I have read some small parts and i didn't like it. Although we, the poeple of Sweden won't get to decide, it will be the government and they are allready as I see it, in on it.

i think the "no"s will start pouring in now. lots of countries didnt want to be the first to reject it and now that France has rejected it, the floodgates are now opened.

Plus French basicly have a monopoly on the Eu with Germany and the UK. If one of them say no to something it is pretty much gone.

The craziest minds in history couldn't Unite Europe, what do these people with all type of degrees think they can do that wasn't tried..

From what I heard in the news people are rejecting this because this constitution was going for an even more Socialist Europe.

With a shinking population, having more old people ended up being suported by fewer and fewer younger people in socialist based enocomy heavily supported by heavy taxes and the goverment you can see where this is leading to trouble. They have tried to import workers but this is causing another kind of trouble all its own.

Right now no one in Europe seems to have any political solution for this, at least this is what I gathered from the news.

Well, I think this is not the reason, the socialist goverments in the power were voted by the people. The main problem is that this Constitution is made by politicians for politicians, and they do not care what people say. We have to notice that every where people were asked about the Constitution the answer was NO, only where the parlaments decided the answer was yes ( of course except Spain, :? ) You can argue that the parlament represents the people....bullshit. They only represent corporations and multinationals. :cen: The concept of real democracy is completely devalueted....if ever existed.

What is the general concensus though, do people over there still want a United Europe? (But with a better constitution)

From what I gathered both left and right were against the constution. Are there any specific examples that people were against that the politicians wanted?

Is Europe in general trying to get away from being too socialist or are they too locked in to do anything about it? The shrinking work force is going to be a problem for a welfare ridden society in the near future, this was a main concern from some of the people I saw being interviewed, what it had to do exactly with the constitution I'm not quite sure. I find this intresting and would like to know more about what exactly is going on over there with this development.

Well if any placeis to have a Socialist government then it needs to be,should be, and most likely will only be in Europe. That is for alot of reasons, however the one thing the EU keeps forgetting is the nationalism the Europeans feel about there nations,or that just what like to Americans.
