Colon Powell is going to try and pave the wat for the Palestinians to be able to move freely in occupied territories, to vote for Arafat's successor. I am not so sure that this will bring peace to the area, but it might be a step in the right direction.
Will Arafat's death bring peace to the region? The US would not deal with Arafat because they believed that he was an obstacle preventing peace in the region.
