Well, we've got a very close election on our hands. Despite that, we know 1 think right now. The Republican Party will be in control of the US Senate and almost certainly be in control of the House of Representative (barring some miracle in the Democrats favor).

Well, after a brutal and negative campaign, we end in a rather polite move on the President's part. He did not publicly announce his victory until after John Kerry conceded. That's a polite move. John Kerry conceding was also polite and you're hearing a very large collective sigh of relief accross the country -- thank goodness we're not going to be put through THAT again. Thank you George W Bush! Thank you John Kerry! In the end, you've both proven to be gentlemen.

This election, the democrats got their wings clipped. They lost ground in the Senate already, and are losing the 2 remaining "still too close to tell" races left -- the Senate races in Florida and Alaska. There are other races out that are still too close to tell other than President and Senate. As of right now, the Republican Party also gained in the House of Representatives and the Democrats have lost.

This election was not expected to be a 3-way catastrophe for the Democrats. We're going to be seeing a lot of push for the Democrats to rethink their positions and their party line. The world might think America is crazy, but we are likely to see a shift in how the Democrats define themselves on moral-grounded issues, because that is the #1 area that they lost in.

You've seen a clinching of a process in the South -- a complete turning from being a stronghold for the Democrats to being a stronghold for the Republicans. The South has apparently felt sufficiently disenfranchised by the Democratic Party that ALL of the South voted for Bush and all Senate "up for grabs" races were taken by the Republicans. Down south, like it or not, for a party to be strong they must likely stand on the religious side of morally charged issues.
