Hello!

This goes out to the dutch soldiers.

How does your military deal with the legalization of marihuana in The Netherlands?
Are you allowed to smoke when you are off duty, even though it will show in urine-tests?
Does it affect your security clearances?

I have wondered about this for a really long time, so I really hope someone out there can give me an answer.

I worked with the dutch mariens in Chad and asked the same thing. Didnt get very straight forward answers. Very vauge guys.
 
According to my friend and colleague in the Dutch Marines you’ll be in a world of s*** if you are caught. If you are addicted to drugs, alcohol or gambling, then your security clearance is going down the drain. Marijuana and hashish are still technically illegal in the Netherlands but there are no criminal penalties. So in its famous "coffee houses", one can openly, safely buy and consume it.
 
Ok thats the world of the law. But what is the practice of the dutch man in the armed forces?

Or is it a case that he has so many oportunities he is not tempted?
