There are gay men in the Australian Infantry who are good soldiers and no one has a problem with them. They cop jokes about it from their mates, just like red heads do. I'd say Infantry is a damn sight more manly and soldierly than being a stoker, right seno?
Naahh,... fraid not, Not when it's full of homos. Right Wallabies?

Stokers did their combat role every day, war or peace, there's no difference for us. We don't spend much of our time painting rocks and doing other make work jobs around the barracks in peacetime. Yes,... I know what you do.

Morning parade, PT, go for a run, piquet duty, Orderly room duties, barrack fatigues,... really stirring stuff. You're bull shitting the wrong man Wallabies.

Quite correct, Wallabies,... as neither term has any real meaning, just being two of many derogatory terms used by those showing the same type of intolerance as that which they are railing against.

I'm certainly intolerant, there's no argument about that, as is everybody else regarding one subject or another.

The difference between people like you, and I, is that I'm perfectly willing to admit my intolerance, whereas you hide behind derogatory terms to mask your own. You are not man enough to even face your weaknesses but find it easier to blame others and "go with the flow" rather than be seen as able to think for yourself.

Topic: An asinine policy ............

The 'don't ask don't tell' policy, is an asinine policy that should never have been.

The military should NOT be used for experimental policies ... they NEVER work - never have and never will -. This policy is as problematic as the policy of segregated military units ... it is time we moved on from antiquated thinking and antiquated policies.

Gays have been an integral part of the military since the days of the Minutemen and it's past time to recognize this fact. Whether a person is gay or not is beside the point ... gays have contributed to the state of our military just like their straight counter-parts - making America's military the greatest military on Earth.

I am retired military ... and have been aware of gay members in the Army/Navy and have NEVER had any problems serving with them. Matter of fact, as a Chief Petty Officer, I had two gays who served in the same unit in my own division .. who were outstanding members of the Navy, who surpassed many straights in the performance of their chosen areas of expertise.

Why they should have to deny any facet of their character and make-up because of this asinine policy, is beyond me.

And straight from the horses mouth! Thank you, Chief, for giving us some first hand insight.

Spike... The problem is, there are things that are right to be intolerant about, and there are things that show ignorance and closed-mindedness... Being intolerant about a child molester is a good thing, because child molestation is a terrible crime. Being intolerant about a homosexual is a bad thing, because homosexuality is NOT a crime. There is nothing wrong with it, other than it being different from the "norm." You only see it as wrong because it's not the way you practice.
