Difference

Seems to fit the 58 series bill.
Wouldn't be surprised if there were some 03s in there as well but don't think so.

Because there's another Marine Corps. forum and some guy said he enlisted in the Security Forces MOS so it doesn't sound like it's 03xx but I'll check it out.

Yes it is 0300 Field. First you have to go to ITB and recieve a primary infantry MOS in the 03xx Field Then you go to Security Force Training in Virginia.

The MOS your looking at is probably 8152, 8153 and 8154 RIGHT?

Those are additional skill designators which are commonly called B-MOS.

If you are MCSF your mos will be 0311 (or whatever) / 8152.

Damn thought so. I swear I though it was 03xx but when I looked it started to look a heck of a lot like a 58xx field.

Wait so you're suggesting I enlist as 03xx. But what if I don't get the 03 MOS I wanted since they assign you one?

To Enlist for Security Forces you must enlist as an 03XX. For reassignment to Security forces from the FMF you can request that the 03XX provision be waived, but you may have to request lateral move to the 03XX field from your current primary MOS.

So then you can enlist as 8152? Because 58xx also go through 0300 training.

You can enlist as an 03XX with a Security Forces Option.

The only 03XX training 58's get is at SOI in MCT and sometimes field training if they are deploying. 58's do not go thru ITB.

Well MP's and Security Forces both perform law enforcement.

Two different kinds of animals. MP's work for the provost marshal and are responsible for maintianing order and safety within the UCMJ and base regulations and DON/DOD regulations.

Marine Security forces are responsible for the protection and security of the fleet and shore stations as dictated by the Chief of Naval Operations.

They are not interchangeable.

Your part of a Rigid Raider boat crew, Riverine you get trained in riverine op's, combat rubber boat you learn to paddle an IBS.....

Heres the deal 0314, 0316, 0312, 0317 0323,0324, 0326 are all new MOS that were formerly B-MOS's. The Corp's has only stream lined the MOS chart. You will still have to be given a primary MOS in 0311,0313,0331,0321,0351, 0352,0341 before your MOS designation changes to the new MOS's.

Oh so 0314, 0316, 0312, 0317 0323,0324, 0326 are all SECONDARY, whereas 0311,0313,0331,0321,0351, 0352,0341 are all PRIMARY?

Yes. All have additional training requirements above that of a primary MOS. No one is gonna let a Pvt coxswain a RHIB ..................................
