Did Ulysses S. Grant say this?

The best man for the job does not go after the job. He waits to be called.
This is attributed in one text to US Pres. Gen. U. S. Grant. However I can't find proof he ever said this. Does anyone know if he did or if it was said by someone else?

Thanks,

Padre

I've seen it attributed to Grant before myself, but I can't find any evidence at all to when and where (or if) he said it...

Is this close enough Padre?
