Two men suspected of having links to Al Qaeda and who were secretly filmed while conducting tests with the same kind of explosive that was used in the 2005 transit system bombings in London were convicted on Tuesday of preparing a terrorist attack. The two men, Hammad Khurshid, a Danish citizen of Pakistani origin, and Abdoulghani Tokhi, an Afghan, were sentenced to 12 years and 7 years in prison, respectively. They were arrested last year after the Danish police filmed them conducting tests with triacetone triperoxide, the compound used by the suicide bombers who killed 52 commuters in London. The police found handwritten bomb-making manuals in the men’s homes, which prosecutors said had been copied at the Red Mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan, a center of militant Islamic activity.
