Fort Belvoir--A soldier who was found dead at Fort Belvoir on Monday was identified yesterday as Carolyn Farrar-Johnson, 58, and authorities said she was from North Carolina.
Authorities declined to say why they considered Farrar-Johnson's death suspicious. An autopsy performed yesterday was inconclusive, FBI spokeswoman Debbie Weierman said.
Fort Belvoir officials said Farrar-Johnson was an active reserve sergeant with the 11th Battalion, 80th Regiment, Officer Education System, headquartered at Fort McCoy, Wis. She had been at Fort Belvoir since January.
Farrar-Johnson was found in her residence, authorities said. The address was not released. Col. Brian W. Lauritzen, post commander, said in a statement that "the information we have regarding the death indicates there is no reason for residents or the workforce to feel any need for a heightened state of security or to have a perception of an increased threat."
