Savages! The DC-3/C-47 is one safe bird. I'd feel safer flying in one then a modern day aircraft.

We still have them flying in the States.

I believe I read somewhere that there has never been a DC-3 go down due to mechanical failure.

Years ago I had the pleasure of riding a BVI Airlines Dakota, and I be telling you I'd give up my collection of stamps any minute for a chance to do that again!

The sound of the big radials being started, prop rotating slowly and the bangs and flames from the exhausts before they roared to life, amazing!

Doubt there will ever be made a plane as sturdy as the old dakota's!
