Could you explain military organization?

Hi, I am a civilian, I know very little about the military beyond what my brother has told me, which is all stuff at the lower organizational levels, like squad and platoon in an israeli infantry battalion.

So could somebody give me a short rundown, starting at company level up till battalion level, about things like how many people in the average infantry company, split how, how many officers, who does what and stuff like that?

If you're wondering why I am asking, here goes. I am epileptic and so cannot serve, as much as I wish to. However my brother, my friends, my distant family, my friends family, all have served and done their part, so I just want to get a glimpse into their life while serving.

This might help you. Don't use this info as the end-all. There are different organizational systems depending on what type of unit. This is just typical to the US Army.
