The APC is burning right behind us, it's molten armor sizzling grimly, as if the mechanical soul of the Machine itself is letting out a high-pitched screech of agony.
The muddy lukewarm water of the rice field feels juuuust fiiine. We're lying in the rice field, eight of us or seven of us, while being surrounded and encircled by the Viet F*cking Cong and the Emperor of Vietnam himself.
William, dear Specialist William, lost a sniper duel. William lost, while Their Sniper won, and now Their Sniper will decimate us, will decimate every one of us, and will decimate me. Tachycardia. I'm almost crying from fear.

"We either run to the jungle three o'clock, we either run to the f*cking jungle, or f*cking die right here" - said the Corporal; his best buddy's bloodied shreds having rained from the sky just several seconds ago, he's in charge now.

"Rise on my whistle, MOVE, open fire and then regroup in the jungle! Tee minus ten, minus nine," - Corporal started counting slowly.

Somebody will catch a bullet here, right here; someone's figure is gonna appear in His scope amid the rice first, and then the inevitable happens.
Time goes slower and slower as I think with images rather than thoughts. They all know I wanna return home the most. I have something to live for, and now I am clinging to this life. A silent scream of anguish I let out as tears emerge in my eyes.

"Jooohn!" - I shout without thinking. "Save me John" is what I should have shouted, though.

"Tee maaaaaainusssss foooooooooour" - slowly counts the Corporal, slower and slower and slower. Sh*t!

"Three, two, one, one, *WHISTLE*", goes the Leader. Just like that. I'm still in the mud. Now what? What now? I failed! I failed my combat task! BANG, goes the Dragunov in the distance. Ra-ta-ta, go the assault rifles of my buddies. "AAAAA" - I think inside.

*the end*

The plane was a drone with an EMP on board. I dived with a parachute. Dead night. The plane crashed right into the radar of the USS Missouri. I swam and placed the HEAS piercing mine next to the ship's motors. The ship didn't sink, but 370 men died in fire. That was my first combat. ÄÄÄÄing Mach 11 dives.... hut two three four
