Clinton Could Lose Nomination _ If...

I think if anyone could do a worse job it would be Hillary Clinton. (Or Michael Moore).

I will agree that Bush has done a great job at screwing things up. I didn't think I voted for the President we got shackled with the past 4 years.

She has one advantage over Bush; shes competent. Whether you agree with her on the issues is another matter, but as a NYer I can tell you as a fact she has done a reasonably good job as protecting the interests of the state in DC. Personally I would prefer keep her in the Senate. It is in fact that she is competent that makes me worry.

Most Conservatives hate her because they think she is the ultra left. -But she really isnt. Thats what is so funny, she's not a liberal.

I have other reasons for why I don't want her as president. First and foremost she is a political lightning rod, this country doesn't need any more division. There are lots of people more liberal than she is, (like Edwards) who the right likes better (for some strange reason). Secondly she is not the nicest person (even among Democrats) you'll ever meet, third she is a political opportunist. The fact she still supports the Iraq war is based on a political calculation then whats best for the country.

I have enough of opportunists wanting high office uniquely for their personal benefit.

MMarsh - Im from Florida, she would have a tough time there - I am a Florida voter btw. I do currently live in Memphis, if West Memphis, AR is any indication they say they voted for Clinton to get the family out of the state :) I guess if she threatened to move back she may take the state. Any ties she did have were broken when she claimed NY as her home state.

Aye, tis the national anthem of Australia... she's the lifeboat if the USS America strikes the Clinton Iceberg again. Figured one should do their best to fit in, hence my post.
:)

You forget the Bill Clinton carried Florida in both 1992 and 1996. Also compared to the Bush Administration, the Clinton era was the "Golden Age" of American history. There are lots of Middle-Class people (people that voted for Bush) that are going to view Clinton as a return to happier times. That is the whole shtict behind Hillary 2008: Bill Clinton Era Part II. Many people view voting for Hillary as a good way to put Bill back in the White House.

And finally there is the whole hate-GOP sentiment which is getting worse by the day. There are many in the country that want to punish the GOP as hard as they can. And that sentiment is particularly strong amongst the independents (and that too helps Hillary).

Do I think she has a lock on Florida: no. A chance yes. Would Edwards or Obama do better? Possibly. Already the polls have her beating all the GOP candidates, and the word in the beltway is that there are more GOP scandals coming down the pipe.

BD - I don't know if there will be any room left in that life-boat by then.
Everyone with the where-with-all has started swimming for Aus from here!
It has become a big deal here - the Aus life-style and firm attitudes re. their own protection.

Aye, tis the national anthem of Australia...
:)

oh i know that, it just that surely we hear that anthem enough every four years that it doesn't need to be repeated here?

lol

The accent of the hot men?

(haha, other than that, I'd be scared there. Spiders. Big scary spiders).

it's not that they are big, it's the amount of poisonous ones....and crocs....even their cute/odd looking ones are poisonous (animals too)

I have me oars and have already begun paddling.

Hold hard there BD. There'll be time enough for paddling when the dealing is done. (I'm singing here). Wait for the vote.

Historically some of the best legislation was when both parties were able to work out a compromise together. I remember a member of congress once said (I forget who) put it:

"You know you have passed a good piece of legislation when both side feel like they lost something".

You don't get that when you have just one party who just dictates everything to the other. Both sides hate Gridlock, but Gridlock prevents bad legislation from becoming law.

Exactly MM. And of course, ideally a government needs to be under strong challenge and held to answer.
