Hi Frog, :D my dear friend,

Although your chinese woman soldiers are so beautiful,I think they may be ideal fighters in the close combats.
Enemy soldiers can do nothing when see them. For instance me,when I see them,I asking myself where I am.

China launches military exercise (news from Today)

ZHENGZHOU, Sept. 25 (Xinhuanet) -- The Chinese military launched an exercise with live ammunition code-named "Iron Fist-2004," in the Queshan Training Base in Henan Province, central China, Saturday morning.

The exercise was carried out by a reinforced mechanized infantry division in mountains in the training base of the Jinan Military Area Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).

Some 60 foreign military leaders, observers and officers from 16 countries observed the exercise, including Brunei, the Philippines, Tajikistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Russia, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

It is the first time for the PLA to invite so many high-ranking foreign military officers to observe a military exercise, which is also the largest-scale military exercise opened to foreign observers, said a Chinese officer in charge of the maneuvers.

Some 60 foreign military observers invited to military exercise

ZHENGZHOU, Sept. 25 (Xinhuanet) -- Some 60 military leaders and observers from 16 countries observed a military exercise launched by the Chinese armed forces in central China Saturday morning.

The exercise, code-named "Iron Fist-2004" and with live ammunition, was carried out by a reinforced mechanized infantry division in the Queshan Training Base of the Jinan Military Area Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) in Henan Province.

The foreign military leaders and observers are from Brunei, the Philippines, Tajikistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Russia, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Vietnam. The ranking officers include commander of the Brunei armed forces, chiefs of the general staff of the Philippines and Tajikistan, and the chief of staff of the Bangladesh army.

It is the first time the PLA invited so many foreign military officers in so high rankings to observe a Chinese military exercise. It is also the largest-scale military exercise open to foreign observers.

The exercise reflects China's diplomatic policy of "treating neighbors as friends and partners," and the new security concept of peaceful coexistence, mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality and cooperation, according to military sources.

It not only embodies the Chinese military's sincere hope to develop friendly cooperative relations with the military of neighboring countries, but also creates a chance for Chinese and foreign officers to learn from each other, the sources said.

The exercise, which involves some PLA 10,000 officers and soldiers, is of positive significance to promoting regional security cooperation.

This time I post some PLA Special Force pictures:

Historically, the PLA was highly skilled in using special troops consisting of specially trained and equipped soldiers to conduct various special and guerrilla warfare missions such as penetrations, tactical reconnaissance, raids on vital positions, rescuing prisoners, and capturing valuable enemy personnel. However, the PLA did not possess a dedicated special operations forces (SOFs) until the early 1990s, when the PLA was shifting its doctrine from the "people's war" towards fighting "a local war under high-tech conditions".

The first experimental SOFs ground unit of the PLA was established in Guangzhou military region during the late 1980s. Impressed by the capabilities of the U.S. and coalition SOFs during the 1991 Gulf War, the formation of modern and professional SOFs in the PLA has been accelerated in the 1990s. Over the decade, this type of unit had been established in every military region in China. The Airborne Corps and Navy have also formed their own dedicated SOFs units.

The SOFs of the PLA saw considerable action in the joint service exercises during the mid- and late-1990s. These troops were used in missions including capturing enemy airfields and seaports, destroying enemy's key targets such as command posts and radar stations, collecting intelligence behind the enemy lines, and locating ground targets for air campaigns.

As a part of the PLA's rapid reaction forces, those well equipped, highly trained, professional SOFs are of great importance in supporting the PLA's capabilities of power projections and operations in China's peripheral regions during a limited-scale, short period, and fast paced conflict.

Man I really hope you can put something constructive in the discussions in stead of endless flaming :D

Chocobo_Blitzer:
Sure, SF units are very crucial in many special cases.
China started with SF late, but is putting big effort into it.
Since USA and UK etc have created those SF's, and we have seen how effective the SF is, therefore other countries including China start to learn and construct their own SF too.

Btw, that video is hilalrious :D
