Milforum's Bouncer
Mates, the last two days at certain times I have tried to access this forum to be told by my browser that it does not exist, cannot be displayed and to please :cen: off ;) I have scoured the board looking for something these thin skinned troglodytes would be offended by and just can't see it but something has obviously tripped The Great Firewall of China and they're not happy with something on this forum.
Or... other people are experiencing this problem and I am losing my mind in a deteriorating fight against paranoia.

Uhm I don't know. I've been having no problems loggin in in the past days. I believe it's regime censorship, although there's not been major threads on China running lately.

Let us be clear on one thing "they" are not MY central planners, I'm a USian, I just happen to be living and working here. It may not be something posted recently, it could just be something old or sometimes the silliest stuff gets their dander up and they censor stuff that leaves you scratching yer head saying "WTF mate?"

Speaking for myself I did have difficulties accessing the forum last week one or two hours a day but that quickly solved by refreshing my IP address - don't know why but access denied and prompts on wrong password even typed in 100% correctly.

That what happens when you live in a Communist Country. Come on back to the States. It's much better. And if you like living under communist rule (which I pray to God that you don't). You can live in Commie Califorina, New York, or Washingotn DC.

Chinese government censorship system works to block western sites from the people IN CHINA to view it......

by the way people, fail to load a web site often relates to the virus, spyware in one's computer, best advice is to use a good anti-virus sytem, and stop go visit porn sites

i lived in a communist nation for 14 years....it is alright

Luis, I don't like it and am in the process of relocating. It is where the work was and I have a curiousity streak that just had to be satisfied. Like it or not the world is doing business here, the world's largest consumer market and sfa for production costs make it impossible to ignore if you're in the trading or manufacturing field. I came to see how things are done and what it is really like here. Now I have got it sussed its time to leave before I throttle someone for staring at me. You offering me a job in the gunshop?

Worms, thanks but I am not a child and I know the difference between a blocked website and spyware or viruses. The flamebait about visiting porn sites won't work but nice try. ;)

yours was probably blocked by censors because you are in China --- that is what the censorship Greatwall does...

but i doubt Chinese have bought all the American cable companies and start to censor Americans...

Chinese censors ban almost anything online that us in the West take for granted.

A friend of mine worked in China for about six months last year, and kept complaining he couldn't access Geocities. We all thought it was bizzare.

I have no idea what they are unhappy about with this forum. Perhaps it's the word "military"? They might also be doing sweeping IP bans and this forum might have fallen into one of their ranges.

you still didn't realize that it is not possible to censor this forum from people outside China?

Worms, I think they are all referring to MY problem IN China, no one has said they have had a problem except for Sunb and he has it sorted and as of the last two days I have had no more problems.

Geocities is blocked because of the number of Blogs that are pro- FG and anti-communist. Also all things that end in .mil or anything from the BBC. Occasionally CNN is banned for a couple days as is any other news site when they run a story deemed unacceptable by the 20,000 or so internet police.

Your probably right bulldog. I had a number of issues with certain sites while I was in China, although I found it tended to vary from location to location what I could and could not view.

From memory, institutions such as my university, an academy of social sciences where i worked, and the university netbar were the worst. However a large netbar down the road as well as a korean-owned netbar allowed me to see pretty much everything. My theory is they install special software on servers where ever they think educated people might access 'explicit' material, and update their blacklist every so often (perhaps its inbuilt?).

At one stage I was even prevented from going to MY OWN website because it was hosted as .tk and they had obviously found something wrong with another .tk hosted site.

Generally freehosts are the worst because the censorship protects certain server paths, and forums are often a prime target. Othertimes news sources, apart from the noticable heavy weights, are almost always down and I've even had trouble reach an Australian government site.

How would you know if it was better? Have you ever lived in a Communist country, let alone China?

5.56X45mm tell this clueless individual where you grew up, wont you.

5.56X45mm,
not all of California is commie bad just certain places like areas in Hollywood and SF, but these are the ones that get the most publicity.

Yeah... the Republic of Cuba. It's run by this :cen: sucker. His name is Fidel Castro. Friends with another commie :cen: sucker named Hugo Chavez, president of Venezuela. Communist killed half of my family. I have no love for the Reds of the world. And the PRC is just another communist country that's on my crap list. When the PRc runs over people with tanks for protesting against a unjust government that has liquidated half of it's people during the 1950s-1960s and call that time period the "Great Leap Forward" and the "Cultural Revolution". Please, sit down and be quiet before you awake this sleeping giant

If you cannot provide a source to support an accusation against a government or an individual, do not post that accusation here. Also, avoid using derogatory/inflammatory terms and words to describe different ideologies. You have been warned several times about this behavior.

superworms, do not incite flamewars here.
