China's aircraft carrier under construction

We have 9 nimitz class carriers with one in production. The George H.W. Bush will be the last nimitz class carrier to be created before the Navy begins creating the next generation CVX series carriers.

I think the next generation aircraft carrier will be... we may not really need much.
After the JSF and F-22, we're probably going to see UAVs becoming the rule. Those won't require gigantic flight decks. Make them VTOL and you won't need a runway at all.
Hell who knows, other than the guys who will maintain and control those UAVs, that carrier may be manned by no more than 5 dudes since so much can be automated.

I know this really deserves another topic but I'm going to hit it anyway since the subject has been broached.

We are a long long long way from replacing piloted planes with unmaned planes. Unmanned aircraft will see an ever increasing roll on the battlefield but it will be a slow development, maybe by the time we need to use Viagra they'll be mostly unmanned.

it's a fake pic alright.

i don't think china needs such thing for now, unless you need it for a war far beyonds your border, or, show off maybe(don't know why country like Thailand needs a carrier)... you need at least three to make it works around clocks and of course, it wasting money like crazy.

i saw the news about 094 like 5 years ago, can't really call it hidden. it isn't fullly complete yet, according to the news, it is still waiting for sea testing and of course, arm it with the missiles. JL-2(DF41-sea version ) has not been tested at sea yet. so i will say 094 needs another 1 year to fully operational.

--a little off topic---some people say it is "walmart at work". i was laughing so hard. walmart pays a dollar or 2 for a T-shrit in china, 1 dollar for the shipping, your government cuts 2 dollars at the ports for duty (to cover the border sercurity or whatever) and walmart sold it for 15 bucks in your markets. walmart makes 6 dollars for their own profits and 4 dollars for Taxition to the government. so, totally 2 dollar made by china(still needs to cover paycheck, spendings, tax,...) and 6 dollars goes to U.S government account and 6 goes to walmart account for their use, paycheck, spendings.. (which is still in the U.S bank). that is what i call "free" trade. i wish walmart's money could work "hard" in china, but i don't think that's the case, sadly. If i were an american, i would point a finger to the F22 and "Nimiz" and say it proudly, "That's walmart at work".

Is this the one thats being built in a lake, or another one. Actually I think the one in the lake is already finished, and they just built it for show. Oh yeah by the way I live in shanghai, and in reply to what someone said in this thread a while back, china does block most of the things that criticizes its military, government, and economy.
