I have to agree with Frog there. IMHO, China is in a position to make a good transition from Communism to Capitalism by not trying to do it too quickly. Sooner or later, the Chinese government is going to have to realize that they have to ease off if they want China to see greater prosperity.

Bear in mind though, they are just as capable of having the same thing happen to them.

China is slowly growing just as the soviets did, but do not forget the soviets fell by the 80's

Because USSR fell, does not automatically mean PRC will fall.

China is a Eastern Culture Country, completely different than USSR.

Ah, sry i did not mean it that way, i meant that the soviets were strong but they became weak by the 80'S WHILE china is still growing

China though wasn't the size of the USSR, In Population of course China wins I beleive but in land Russia had an hard time running the nation,In China however most of the population is on the eastern side which makes it easy to rule.

well if you consider that 2/3 of the country was all snow and trees than yea it was hard

I was saying that Russia has like I think 7 or 8 differnt times zones, That is Russia right now, They were running a very large empire wich I am sure was hard to rule. China on the other hand is Like Brazil, Most of the population is on one side so they can rule easir.

ah yes time zones. On new year russians with big families get drunk multiple times.lol we drank for moscow, St. petersburg, murmansk, latvia and chehotka

I agree with godofthunder9010's point here.

China is no more real Socialism nor Communism, China is practically a Capitalist country only with one-party system.

If you look at Chinese leaders of now, they are all very well educated, and quite humble (polite) and with style, I mean at least TOP leaders. And the Freedom of Speech is much better than some 10 years ago, and it is only getting more and more free.

Most of Chinese would believe that in some 20 to 30 years, China will be "democratic" too, with multiple parties system.

I think China is only going to the good and peaceful direction. It may take sometime, but China will be there, for sure.

Words of hope... :)

Yeah but thier is a diff between China and America, America can blow the world up about 40 times and we still wouldn't be done with our Nuclear Supply, China can not do it at all.

If this is true, other nations have the right to disarm America's WMD attack the US because the US can destroy the world. That is height of hypocracy! :x Damien, whats on your mind?

That was actualy a former Cold War Figure from like the early 80's I Think, It is lesser now however we can still blow the world up multiable times.

I also agree that China is letting up on thier Communism, however they are trying to stay at it like when they banned elections in HK.

AHH, people communism never existed, only dictatorship

the reason to have banned elections in hong kong is to lower the ecomomic power of hong kong by haveing civil unrest in that city, while other chinese ecnomic districts recieve more investments and development as those areas are peaceful and stable

Democracy isn't always good. You cannot take certain important decisions for your country which would benefit the country with multiple party systems ( like what we have in India right now , a coalition government ).There always these people who keep proving any decision the government takes wrong for their own selfish benefit and don't think about the country.I think China wouldn't have achieved whatever it has in the last 20-30 years if it weren't a communist/capitalist state.
( USA might be an exception. )

In democracy nothing is certain, in What china has (lets call it Chinism)

The government gives the path you follow, in the end it works ouy very well

The government gives the path you follow, in the end it works ouy very well

It also means you can't oppose the government, if you do you are dead meat.Tomorrow if the goverment says they will bull doze your house because they want to build a railway line there and also they won't give you any compensation for it you cant go to court to oppose them. There are always advantages and disadvantages to any form of government.

China and USA are two extreme examples I think ?!? both successful in their own way ?[/quote]

AI, China is always a unique nation, there is probaly no perfect national government style for china, say democracy wont work because counting the votes ans those are too much, and chinas always in need of a dictatorship for governing..... Just look at taiwan, man, they are not a good excample for future democracy

ai, have u seen their cabinet system??? nothing gets done because they physically flame each other for days on end with no results, on one occasion they threw stablers and coke bottles which injured many.... Also, their screwed up system wont work in china because simply..... too many people and definetly more corruption will occur: just look at russia with democracy

haha, cmon, my taiwanese friends are disgraced by their system, they are pretty much disgraced by the fact that taiwan wants to seperate( their fatehrs were mainlanders from nationlistc armies)
