China finally has some AWACS planes

To tell you the truth, most AWACs designs look very similar due to the sophistication of the equipment onboard that limits the performance of the aircraft while in flight.

However Russia and Israel made a great deal in the development of these aircraft and under various contracts. So its not a copy.


Why do i have a feelign that these Pictures are Morfed ... why they had edited them and removed dates and that added that Green line on the tail?

Most of the information and photos about China's recent military activities is disclosed from Public. Whoever taken this photo obviously have done it illegaly behind a window and escaped unscathed to release this over the internet. Just remember that these photos are not official.

all i know is the chinese version of the redar on top does not turn at all. don't know others is the same...

eh, its two different things, you got the time line reversed. we got riped off when 5 years ago, we fully trusted and russians to deliver the AWACS systems. was looking for a shortcut, the develop of own version of AWACS was delayed during that contract, then the US steped in then... you all knew the story.

man, you could imagine how angry we are at the isrelis at that time. since then the AWACS was the No1 militery job that need to be finished for the militery., some say, it's even higher than the carrier development.

china never forget the lesson that learned in that contract 5 years ago. not like india, we just not allowed to buy things freely. that's why we put even more money to build our own stuffs and buy things the same time. although the own version might not be always the best but still, enough for our level of need.

the navy radar is the example, when early ships used russian imported system and some of then later on used chinese version. Months ago the UAV updating contract is just another example of such events like 5 years ago, but you just don't hear the same level of anger from the chinese side anymore.

Thanks for that update.
Actually in India, we went about the AWACS the other way around. We tried to build one, the radar was ok, but the bloody platform (an Avro) crashed during a test flight. Now since the phalcon is miles ahead in technology compared to the Indian radar, we going in for that till we can build our own advanced radars.
