Most stories I've read was about the US experience with then. Always wondered if it was better in the original chambering. Guess it was, though not great at any rate.

There certainly was a lot of crap that made its way to the front lines but that would have to have been one of the biggest bits.

It reminds me of the German Goliath remote controlled tank buster of WW2 which worked perfectly on flat ground but had a habit of coming back to its owner on rough ground prior to exploding.
 
Look on the bright side, they saved a lot of ammo. GI's must have been pissed when they realized there was a BAR that would have made a difference.
