Basic Information on the SAJ
The SAJ [Serbian Latinic: Specijalna Anti-Teroristicka Jedinica] [English: Special Anti-Terrorist Unit] was first formed in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1978 as a response to the rising terrorist activities in Europe. Its main mission was pretty normal for an anti-terrorist unit: Prevent aircraft hijackings, hostage rescue, the fight against organised crime etc etc.
The SAJ has operated extensively against the largest threat to Serb/Yugoslav security, which is the KLA [Kosovo Liberation Army]. One of its greater sucesses was the destruction of the KLA concentration in Donji Prekaz, Kosovo.
The equipment of the SAJ is pretty advanced and modern. Some of the standard weapons include the H&K MP5, Zastava M70, CZ999 and the H&K G3. The SAJ also has a good selection of transport for all types of terrain and situations.
