Bul M5

If your not firing 230 grain +P loads out of it to the tune of about 500 rounds a week I can see not having a problem. This guy was shooting a Springfield Operator and the recoil of those rounds sending the slide back in battery and the lightness of the spring and ridgity of the rod combined rattled the gun to pieces.

My carry loads are Winchester Black Talon. I fired a mag full to check how the Colt handled them, no problem with feeding or function. I practice with either 220 grain RNL or PMP 220 FMJ projectiles loaded to around 800 FPS.

I have seen quite a few ex WW2 military issue Colt 45 ACP's all in pretty good condition. As a matter of interest, as a dealer in UK I had to visit the London Proof House to get various firearms proofed and gleaned quite a lot of interesting stuff regarding proof pressures.

9mm Parabellum is proofed at 9 tons per square inch
357 magnum at 12 tons
45 ACP at 7 tons.
303's at 18.5 tons
308 at 22 tons.

My memory fails me regarding the proof pressure of 5.56/223 and other calibres
