LONDON, Oct 20, 2006 (AFP) - British troops are on standby to move into the
southern Iraqi city of Al Amarah to help out Iraqi forces, the Ministry of
Defence in London said Friday, after street battles between police and
Shiite militiamen left 18 people dead.
