So I've been weighing my options and have been looking into the possibility of joining a foreign military. The british military would be my first choice if that happened so I was wondering if its possible for an american to join the british armed forces?

I think the UK requires you to be a citizen and have been residing in the UK for a minimum of six years prior being considered. Maybe you can take a closer look at Canada if you want to serve abroad.

I was actually just looking into the canadian armed forces right now

Is there any way to change the title of this thread? I've started looking into the canadian forces instead of the british and I don't want to start a WHOLE other thread

A number of South Africans have joined the British military without living in UK, a couple of local blokes joined the Royal Marines. The Royal Air Force however, will not take anyone who hasnt lived in the UK for at least 5 years, British subject or not.

Before you even consider the British military, if you still do that. You need to learn their language. The British don't speak English, they speak something else, quite related to the English language. But it is not English

Finish school first and after that you can be thinking about the military. When you have graduated the high school your might want to do something else. You don't know that now, but a lot of stuff is going on when you are a teenager.
