BAGHDAD, Iraq - (AP) A roadside bomb hit a U.S. Army patrol south
of Baghdad, killing one soldier and wounding two others, the military said
Wednesday.
The explosion occurred at about 11 p.m. Tuesday near Iskandariyah,
50 kilometers (30 miles) south of Baghdad, the military said.
The wounded soldiers from the 56th Brigade Combat Team were taken to
a Coalition forces medical treatment facility.
The names of all three were withheld pending notification of their
relatives.
At least 1,981 members of the U.S. military have died since the
beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press
