JEFFERSON CITY -- Gov. Matt Blunt says Missouri National Guard members are facing a "demanding chore" in Kosovo.
Missouri has about 1,000 guard members in Kosovo on a peacekeeping mission. It's the state's largest single unit deployment since World War I.
Blunt is visiting both the Army brass and the soldiers on street patrol.
In a conference call Tuesday from Kosovo, Blunt said was there to say thanks to the troops, learn more about their mission and remind Missourians about what's going on there.
Blunt says the soldiers are doing a good job of providing security and helping community leaders in a place that still has deep ethnic divisions.
Before returning home Thursday, the governor is to meet with an Austrian business considering an expansion in Missouri.
