Very insightful interview. Here is the background:

"Qazi Hussain Ahmad is the leader of the main Islamic party in Pakistan. He talks to Stephen Sackur in Islamabad about why he is determined to reverse Pakistan's relationship with the United States.

The Americans see Pakistan as one of their key allies in their battle against Islamist militants.

But does President Musharraf have the the backing of his own people?

A Pew research poll suggest more than 50 per cent of Pakistanis are sympathetic to Osama Bin Laden.

Can President Musharraf maintain this tight balancing act as opposition to his foreign policy at home becomes more entrenched?"
