BAYEUX 1940-1944: OCCUPATION, D-DAY, DE GAULLE

I have journeyed to Normandy back in July 2019 and with this extensive 10 000-word article I’m delighted to start a series of WWII historical articles from Nothern France. Apart from the 1944 Allied invasion of Normandy, the whole period of the Occupation of France since 1940 worth consideration. Followed by a detailed historical walk across the streets of Bayeux with photos and a map, It took me two months to research merely 80 books on Normandy and Wilhelm I the conqueror, Fall of France (1940), the Holocaust in France, the Resistance movement, Operation Overlord, and D-Day, a number of travel guides of the era as well as every major biography of Charles De Gaulle. Let’s take a look into the history of France under Nazis and the city of Bayeux, the first French city liberated.

I hope, this exhaustive bulk of information would make sense to you. I would be delighted to see your feedback, comments as it fuels my enthusiasm to keep travel, reading, and writing.
